Auckland Architecture Week 07

Auckland Architecture Week is back for a 2nd year and will be held at Britomart from Monday 15 to Friday 19 October 2007. The agenda includes a variety of exhibitions, talks and tours for both architects and 'the public' (some ticketed, others free). Have a look at the website for more details. Below are just some of the events which look particularly interesting to us:

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Britomart Pavilion, Britomart Precinct
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10am–5pm

Habitat for Humanity’s aim is to eliminate poverty housing from the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience. Since 1976 Habitat has built more than 200,000 houses in nearly 100 countries with a new house being completed every 24 minutes.

URBAN SPOILER CONSTRUCTIONS
Location: Britomart Square, all week
City workers and passers-by will enjoy watching the futurestars of architecture transform the Britomart Precinct with their project, which will see Architectural and Design students from the University of Auckland, AUT and Unitec build three full scale sculptural pavilions from scaffolding materials.

GREENBUILD BREAKFAST
Friday 19 October 8.00am
Britomart Pavilion, Britomart (Takutai) Square

Gordon Moller and Graeme Finlay will present details of the new GreenBuild website designed to offer a wide range of product information to the construction and building community including specific technical details, certification and compliance details and contact information. A feature will be independent assessments comparing the environmental impacts of each product’s manufacture, use, maintenance and disposal.

This event consists of entertaining, rapid-fire presentations by artists,craftspeople, architects, designers, photographers and others.

TRAIN TOUR TO NEW LYNN & WAITAKERE CITY
Saturday 13th October
Departure from Britomart Station, assemble at 9am. Returns to Britomart by 2pm
Tours hosted by the architects of the New Lynn Library (Moller Architects) and Waitakere Central and Library (Architectus and Athfield Architects). Plus external walk round of the New Lynn Community Centre

ARCHITECTS ON BIKES
Sunday 14th October
Register 7.30 am at Britomart Pavilion, Briefing 8am, Leave 8:30am

All welcome - enjoy a 70km circuit of everything that's special about Auckland by bike.
