Kingsnorth Activists Cleared - Guardian Poll

From: Guardian, Environment, 11Sep08

"A lawful excuse?
Six Greenpeace activists have been cleared on charges of criminal damage at a coal-fired power station. They claimed that painting the word "Gordon" on the smokestack was legally justified because they were trying to prevent climate change causing greater damage. A jury at Maidstone crown court – apparently accepting their argument – acquitted them by a majority verdict. Five of the protesters had scaled the 200-metre chimney at Kingsnorth power station, Kent, in October last year. What do you think – is climate change a valid defence?"
